Park Place Three

Originally installed less than 10 years ago, this modernist garden required a complete redesign and reconstruction due to deteriorating substructure and rampant bamboo. After clearing all of this out, we were able to reuse 100% of the existing Ipe decking and river stones. The reconfigured deck provides more space for plants, as well as functional areas for dining, entertaining and quiet contemplation.

New plantings of native grasses, shrubs and meadow wildflowers among dry stone riverbeds weave between ascending Ipe platforms and curving concrete-rubble retaining walls. Completely transformed and more natural, the garden still reflects the movement of water, the warmth of wood, the strength of stone and the reassuring presence of plants, while responding to our client's request for economy and a low maintenance garden.
